best friends, strangers now
Avid readers,
I need your help settling an argument. A moral dilemma I am facing. One that Mr. Matt Siblog has forced upon me. Let me tell you my tale:
More than a year ago, during the height of my reliance on myspace for social interaction, I discovered SPYSPACE. I could see who was looking at my profile? What a novel idea! I had vaguely heard about it but with one stroke of luck, I now held the key to the most desperate act of narcissism.
I did not want to tell my friends. I was ashamed and I was selfish. However, as it goes, I have a hard time keeping things secrets, especially from Siblog. I told him about this myspace tracker and, in typical twinsie fashion, he INSISTED I give him the website.
"Well, what are you going to give me in return?" I shouted. Selfish, remember?
We decided, after what I remember to be DAYS of arguing, that he would give me his Black Eyes t-shirt in exchange for the website. A trade I was more than comfortable with - especially since Matt told me, months before, that he never wears the shirt. I gave him the website and expected a prompt delivery of the shirt. That is NOT what I got. Not at all.
I constantly asked him about it when I saw him. "Oh, I think it's in Staten Island..." would be the answer when he was in Philadelphia. "Oh, I think it's in DC..." when I was in Staten Island. But, finally, Holy of Holies (if you get this reference, let's get married?), I was going to be in DC staying at Matt's apartment while he was in New York. I would hunt for it in Matt's apartment while he wasn't there and I told him as much.
"Please don't steal my shirt!" he said.
EXCUUUUUUUUUUSE ME?? How is this stealing!!! We made an agreement and now I'm meant to feel remorse. So I ask you, dear bloggers, should I NOT get the shirt? Should I not insist that Matt holds true to his end of our deal? Please vote! I am suspiciously torn.
NOTE: I DID rifle through Matt's closet but the shirt seemed to be missing. "It might be in the laundry." CRUEL TRICK, SIBLOG!
